About Sweet Cheetah Records
Sweet Cheetah Records was accidentally started by Tim Anderl, an American journalist/music publicist based in Dayton, Ohio in 2023 when he fell in love with Palm Ghosts’ then unreleased I Love You, Burn in Hell album.
Prior to Sweet Cheetah Records, Anderl started the Bettawreckonize online music magazine, assuming the role of managing editor/publisher in 2001. It later became the YouIndie music blog and ended its run in 2018 with over 300K unique monthly visitors. He also started/hosted the Sound Check Chat podcast (with Frank Steele) in 2014 until its end in 2016. He regularly contributes to a variety of publications currently, including Ghettoblaster Magazine (12 years) and New Noise Magazine (10 years), although he has also been a featured columnist for Off Shelf (the Shadow-Plays column for two years) and has contributed music news, feature, and review writing for A.P., Strength Skateboarding Magazine, Delusions of Adequacy, Substream Music Press, etc.
In 2013, he also started Sweet Cheetah Publicity (SCPR), a boutique public relations outfit that contributes pro-bono PR work in exchange for commitment to charitable giving and community action. To date, Sweet Cheetah Publicity and its partners have raised $130K+ in contributions to charitable organizations and causes. Sweet Cheetah Publicity has been featured in New Noise Magazine, on the Scream Therapy podcast, the enough. podcast, and on The Book of Very Very Bad Things podcast, and by That’s Good Enough For Me.
In 2023, he started Sweet Cheetah Records, and in November 2023 released the I Love You, Burn In Hell LP from Nashville's Palm Ghosts with partners at Poptek Records, Sell The Heart Records, and Engineer Records in the UK/EU. The LP was proceeded by a run of Sweet Cheetah Publicity “Covers For A Cause” which he curated to raise money for charity
Anderl has also performed with Athens, Ohio's Lopan (in support of Old Hearts Club, Bunnygrunt, Darling Jackhammer, Sarge, Appalachian Death Ride), and Dayton's In The Black Hearts of Men (in support of The Dream Is Dead, Anodyne, High on Fire, Mastodon), and Arms Race (in support of Oh Condor, City Mouse, Ultrasphinx). Arms Race released songs via compilations with Poptek Records and Friend Club Records.
He lives in Dayton, Ohio, with his eight-year-old son, and three-year-old mixed breed rescue dog.
